My Story of Change: From Albania to Morocco, and the Lessons Along the Way

Change is never easy. Even when it’s something we’ve dreamed of, it can still shake us.

I know this because I’ve lived it many times.

A little over a year ago, I moved to Morocco. I had been visiting the country for years and loved its energy. But what finally made me take the leap was something deeper—a relationship. While my heart was happy, starting over in a new country wasn’t as easy as I thought.

I had to rebuild my social life, find purpose, and accept that things would take time. The doubts crept in.

But I reminded myself: I’ve done this before. I moved from Albania to Italy when I was five. Then later to Dublin, Holland, and the UK. Each time, I had to adapt—and that skill became my anchor.

When life changes, our comfort zone disappears. We look for answers in our environment, but often forget to look inside.
